All existing users are encouraged to use kissdx instead. Kissdx is an enhanced version of kissd, developped by Vidar Tysse with help from Olivier Kahn and Emiliano Heyns.
Kissdx homepage is located at http://kissdx.vidartysse.net/ and a central repository for developers is available at http://www.famille-kahn.com/kissdx/.
The rest of this page is kept as is for reference only and may be outdated.
kissd can also act as a KiSS Markup Language forwarder, enabling access to external sites like TinyStocks from your KiSS player.
The recent versions of kissd support:
kissd initial versions were heavily based on kiss4lin by Jacob Kolding, which isn't maintained anymore.
If you choose the first solution:
tar xvfj kissd-X.Y.tar.bz2
The second solution is even simpler:
rpmbuild -tb kissd-X.Y.tar.bz2
rpm -i kissd-X.Y.i386.rpm
/etc/kissd.confand put your own paths inside.
If you have several directories containing videos/mp3/pictures you must create a main directory and use symlinks from this main directory to access the other directories.
